Starting from the 1992/1993 academic year, the Master’s Programs in Regional and Rural Development Planning, Soil Science, Natural Resource and Environmental Management, Agronomy, and Law were fully conducted at Universitas Sumatera Utara under the management of the USU Graduate Program. A total of 21 master's programs and 5 doctoral programs were reassigned to their respective faculties. However, some monodisciplinary programs continued to be managed by the USU Graduate School until 2013.
2022
Currently, USU offers 62 postgraduate programs, consisting of 40 master's programs and 22 doctoral programs.
