The International Focus Group Discussion (FGD) held in Habeahan Village is part of a community service program carried out by lecturers from Universitas Sumatera Utara. This activity aims to strengthen village institutional capacity and promote the development of an environment-based economy through collaboration among academics, government, international partners, and the community. Through a participatory approach, the lecturers not only share knowledge but also assist the community in formulating innovative solutions toward an independent, productive, and sustainable village.

The Journal of Environmental and Development Studies (JEDS), published by the Postgraduate School of Universitas Sumatera Utara, has officially received SINTA 3 accreditation based on the Decree of the Director General of Research and Development of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Number 156/C/C3/KPT/2026 dated April 7, 2026, regarding the New Accreditation Rankings for Scientific Journals Rank 3 to 6, Period II of 2025.

The Postgraduate School of Universitas Sumatera Utara successfully hosted The 4th International Conference on Natural Resources and Sustainable Development (ICNRSD) 2026 at Grandhika Hotel Medan, bringing together participants from 15 countries to discuss sustainable management of natural resources and ecosystem resilience. The conference featured international keynote speakers, panel discussions, and 12 parallel research sessions addressing environmental degradation, climate change, and socio-economic sustainability. The event reinforced the importance of global collaboration and interdisciplinary research in advancing innovative, evidence-based solutions for sustainable development.
