MEDAN – The Alumni Association of the School of Postgraduate, Universitas Sumatera Utara (IKA SPs USU), successfully held its Second Grand Deliberation (Mubes II) on Saturday, October 17, 2026. The event, which brought together postgraduate alumni, began at 10:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) and took place in the School of Postgraduate Hall, 2nd Floor, Medan.
This year's Mubes was prepared by a committee chaired by Dr. Kariaman Sinaga, S.Sos., MAP. Under the overarching theme "UNITED, EXCELLENT, TOGETHER," this highest forum of the IKA SPs USU organization was held to evaluate the previous management, establish organizational policies, and elect new management for the 2026–2030 period.
Several important agenda items were completed during the plenary sessions of this Mubes, including the presentation and ratification of the Accountability Report (LPJ) of the IKA SPs USU management for the 2022–2026 period. The management for the 2022–2026 period was previously chaired by Dr. Drs. Arlen Hanel John, M.Si. After the accountability report was accepted by the deliberation participants, the 2022–2026 management was officially declared demissionary.
The highlight of the Mubes was the election of the Chairperson and the appointment of the Formation Team, which will be responsible for preparing the IKA SPs USU management for the 2026–2030 period.
Although the election of the chairperson had been scheduled, as of the publication of this news, the complete composition of the new IKA SPs USU management had not yet been announced. Based on Article 15 of the Mubes rules of procedure, the elected chairperson and the formation team have a maximum of one (1) month from the conclusion of Mubes 2026 to prepare the complete organizational management structure. The results of this decision will subsequently be announced and communicated to all members under the IKA SPs USU.
