On October 8, 2024, the Master's Program in Management at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) organized a Company Visit under Magister Manajemen USU Goes to SPMT Pelindo. The event occurred at Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT), a subsidiary of Pelindo that plays a crucial role in Indonesia’s port logistics sector.

The visit commenced with a tour of the operational areas within Pelindo Multi Terminal. Students and faculty members were given a first-hand look at terminal management, logistics operations, and port technology. Industry experts from Pelindo provided in-depth explanations about the complexities of port operations, including the technology-driven processes used to optimize cargo handling and the challenges in ensuring the smooth distribution of goods. This immersive experience offered students real-world insights into the crucial role of port efficiency as a key pillar of the national economy.

Following the tour, the agenda continued with a talk show titled "The Strategic Role of Ports in Supporting the National Economy." The session featured senior management representatives from SPMT Pelindo, who elaborated on the port sector’s contribution to economic growth, infrastructure challenges, and the transformative impact of digitalization on port management.
The interactive discussion allowed students to engage directly with industry practitioners, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the innovation and strategic planning required for an efficient port sector. The session provided academic enrichment and encouraged students to explore career opportunities in logistics, supply chain management, and infrastructure development.

More than just a company visit, the event served as a bridge between academia and industry.
