International Webinar Discusses Global Trends in the Property and Real Estate Industry
On Saturday, April 26, 2025, the Master's Program in Property and Valuation Management (MMPP) at the School of Postgraduate Studies, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held an international webinar titled “Global Trends in the Property and Real Estate Industry.” This event was the result of a strategic collaboration with the Indonesian Society of Appraisers (MAPPI), the National University of Singapore (NUS), FIABCI Asia Pacific, and Realestat Indonesia (REI).
The webinar featured two prominent speakers: Mr. Rusmin Lawin, President of FIABCI Asia Pacific, who presented on “Investment Opportunities in Nusantara,” and Prof. Kwan Ok Lee from NUS, who discussed “The Future of Real Estate: Sustainability, Technology & Globalisation.” The discussion was moderated by Dany Perdana Sitompul, S.T., M.M., and took place interactively with an active Q&A session involving participants from student, academic,
The property and real estate industry continues to undergo transformation driven by rapid globalization, technological advancements, and increasing demands for environmental sustainability. Acknowledging the urgency of understanding and adapting to these trends, the Master's Program in Property and Valuation Management at the School of Postgraduate Studies, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), organized an International Webinar titled “Global Trends in the Property and Real Estate Industry” on Saturday, April 26, 2025. The event, chaired by Isnen Fitri, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., served as an intellectual platform for international collaboration in addressing the current challenges and opportunities in the property sector.
This international-scale webinar was made possible through strategic partnerships between MMPP SPs USU and several leading institutions, including the Indonesian Society of Appraisers (MAPPI), the National University of Singapore (NUS), the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) Asia Pacific, and Realestat Indonesia (REI). The event opened with welcoming remarks by the Vice-Rector III of USU, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt.; the Chairman of the Indonesian Society of Appraisers (MAPPI), Ir. Budi Prasodjo, M.Ec.Dev.; and the Chairman of Real Estate Indonesia (REI), H. Joko Suranto, S.H., M.Hum.
The webinar brought together two distinguished speakers from both national and international levels, offering valuable insights on recent developments in the property sector. Mr. Rusmin Lawin, President of FIABCI Asia Pacific, presented “Investment Opportunities in Nusantara,” Prof. Kwan Ok Lee from the National University of Singapore provided in-depth perspectives on “The Future of Real Estate: Sustainability, Technology & Globalisation.”
The discussion was moderated interactively by Dany Perdana Sitompul, S.T., M.M., who successfully facilitated a dynamic and in-depth dialogue. Participants—including students, academics, professionals, and industry players from various regions—eagerly participated in the productive Q&A session. The event was officially closed by Prof. Dr. Elisabet Siahaan, SE, M.Ec., Head of the Master's Program in Property and Valuation Management at the USU School of Postgraduate Studies. In addition to broadening global perspectives, the webinar provided practical added value in the form of 4 CPD points from MAPPI and electronic certificates for all participants.
