Medan, June 7, 2025 — The Master's Program in Management at the Universitas Sumatera Utara (MM USU) held an Alumni Gathering at Mosaku Café, Medan. The event was organized as a platform to strengthen relationships among alumni, students, and the academic community while fostering professional networks across various fields.
The event commenced with opening remarks from the organizing committee, followed by a speech from the leadership of the Master's Program in Management . In the speech, the importance of alumni contributions in supporting the development of the study program and enhancing the institution’s reputation among the public and in the professional sphere was emphasized.
The program continued with a series of experience-sharing sessions led by alumni who have pursued careers in diverse professional fields. During these sessions, alumni shared insights into their career journeys, the challenges they have encountered in the workplace, and strategies for developing competencies to remain competitive in professional environments. In addition, the event featured interactive discussions involving alumni, students, and faculty members, providing students with valuable insights and motivation from professionals who have firsthand experience in the world of work.
More than just a forum for knowledge sharing, the Alumni Gathering also served as an opportunity to strengthen the bonds between alumni and the academic community in a warm and collegial atmosphere. Through this gathering, communication between alumni and the study program can be further enhanced, while opening opportunities for sustainable collaboration and professional networking in the future.
The Master's Program in Management at the Universitas Sumatera Utara hopes that the Alumni Gathering will continue to be held regularly as an effort to strengthen alumni networks and enhance the role of alumni in supporting the advancement of the study program, while providing tangible benefits for the development of both students and the institution as a whole.
This Alumni Gathering aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The sharing of experiences and insights from alumni contributes to SDG 4 – Quality Education by enriching students’ learning experiences through practical perspectives and real-world professional knowledge that may not always be acquired in the classroom. The discussions on career development and competency-building strategies also support SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth by preparing students to enter the workforce and develop their careers professionally. Furthermore, the establishment of networks and collaboration among alumni, students, and the study program reflects the spirit of SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, where synergy between alumni and their alma mater plays a vital role in supporting the sustainable development of educational institutions.
Through this initiative, the Master's Program in Management at the Universitas Sumatera Utara contributes to strengthening the quality of education and fostering sustainable partnerships between alumni and their alma mater, while supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the academic community.
