The Natural Resources and Environmental Management Study Program (PSL), Postgraduate School of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), participated in a series of national activities of the Association of Indonesian Environmental Science Study Programs (PEPSILI), which were held on 4–5 September 2025 at AAC Dayan Dawood, Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), Banda Aceh.
The activities were attended by Prof. Rahmawaty, Prof. Delvian, and Dr. Alief Athhorick as representatives of USU. Their presence reflects Universitas Sumatera Utara’s commitment to strengthening academic networks, developing scientific knowledge, and formulating strategic directions for the field of environmental science at the national level.
The series of activities included an international seminar, workshops, competency training, and the 13th PEPSILI National Working Meeting (Rakernas). The international seminar raised the theme “Integration Waste Management: The Key to Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” as a form of contribution by higher education institutions in supporting sustainable development.
During the 13th National Working Meeting, USU representatives were involved in discussions on various strategic agendas, including the development of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral curricula in Environmental Science, strengthening cooperation among study programs, plans to establish the PEPSILI Independent Accreditation Institution (LAM DEPILAR), and professional development in the field of environmental science.
The participation of Universitas Sumatera Utara in this activity is expected to provide tangible contributions to strengthening the role of higher education institutions in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and sustainable environmental management in Indonesia.
