Medan, October 15, 2024 – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held an open session today to commemorate its 72nd anniversary under the theme "Strengthening the Higher Education Ecosystem to Achieve Golden Indonesia." The event, which took place at the USU Auditorium, was attended by the academic community, guests, and distinguished officials, creating a solemn yet festive atmosphere.
The events began with participant registration, followed by the ceremonial entrance into the session hall. The national anthem, Indonesia Raya and Hymne USU marked the opening, followed by an address from the USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si.
In his speech, the rector presented the university's annual report, highlighting USU’s achievements in strengthening the higher education ecosystem. This aligns with the event’s theme, emphasizing the role of synergy in higher education to realize the vision of Golden Indonesia in the future.
The event continued with speeches from the Chair of the USU Board of Trustees, the Acting Governor of North Sumatra, and the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. They all underscored the importance of collaboration among all educational stakeholders to enhance human resource quality.
Following a video presentation celebrating USU’s 72nd anniversary, the keynote scientific oration delivered by Ferry Irwandi became the event's highlight. In his speech, Ferry stressed the significance of innovation and collaboration in strengthening the higher education ecosystem to tackle global challenges and achieve Golden Indonesia.
The session concluded with the singing of Bagimu Negeri and Mars USU before the rector officially closed the session. The ceremonial exit of attendees marked the end of a truly inspiring event, reaffirming USU’s commitment to advancing higher education in Indonesia.
USU’s 72nd anniversary is a crucial milestone in fostering innovation and strengthening its contributions to higher education, paving the way for Golden Indonesia.
