The Doctoral Program of the Natural Resources and Environmental Management Study Program (PSL), Postgraduate School of Universitas Sumatera Utara, has once again graduated a doctoral student through a Doctoral Promotion Examination under the name Masrizal Saraan. The doctoral education undertaken was a doctoral program by research track, a scheme that emphasizes research activities from the beginning of the study period.
The doctoral program by research track is intended for prospective students with relevant academic backgrounds that support the completion of doctoral studies, so that students are directed to focus on the development of in-depth, systematic research that contributes directly to the advancement of scientific knowledge.
At the doctoral promotion examination, Masrizal Saraan presented the results of his dissertation entitled “Model of Social Forestry Management Based on Social Capital and Social-Ecological Systems in North Sumatra.” This dissertation examines the integration of community social capital and social-ecological systems as the foundation for sustainable social forestry management.
Through this promotion examination, Masrizal Saraan was declared to have passed and is entitled to the doctoral degree. The research results are expected to provide academic contributions and practical recommendations for the development of policies and the implementation of social forestry in North Sumatra.
This achievement is evidence of the commitment of the Natural Resources and Environmental Management Study Program of the Postgraduate School of Universitas Sumatera Utara in producing doctoral graduates who are able to provide research-based solutions to environmental issues and natural resource management in Indonesia.
