Medan, October 10, 2026 — The Master's Program in Management, School of Postgraduate, Universitas Sumatera Utara, conducted a Teaching Practitioner Program entitled “MSME Product Curation Strategies” as part of the Corporate Business Project course.
The program featured Dani Sutanta S., an MSME Development Consultant at Bank Indonesia, North Sumatra, bringing practical business experience into the academic learning environment. Students gained insights into product curation as a strategic process for assessing product quality, consistency, uniqueness, value creation, consumer relevance, and readiness to enter broader markets.
Through an experiential learning approach, students were encouraged to assess products from a market-oriented perspective, identify market opportunities, evaluate competitiveness, and formulate practical product development strategies. The session therefore connected management theory with real-world challenges faced by MSMEs. This program contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 – Quality Education: The program strengthens experiential and practice-based learning by engaging a practitioner with direct experience in MSME development. This interaction enables students to connect academic concepts with real business needs and challenges. And SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: Product curation strategies support improvements in MSME product quality, value creation, competitiveness, and market readiness. Strengthening these capabilities can contribute to more productive enterprises and inclusive, sustainable economic growth.
As a follow-up, students are encouraged to apply product curation principles to their business projects, covering problem identification, product analysis, competitiveness assessment, development strategy formulation, and market-oriented business recommendations.
