Alumni of the Master's Program in Valuation and Property Management (MMPP), in collaboration with current MMPP students of the USU Postgraduate School, organized a Workshop on the Dissemination of Presidential Regulation No. 16 of 2018 concerning Government Goods/Services Procurement at the Postgraduate Hall of the New Building, Universitas Sumatera Utara, (1/9/18).
In this alumni-led event, Mr. Dohar Paisal Girsang, S.Pt., MMPP, CCMs, CTM, who works at the Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP) and is also an alumnus of the MMPP program at Universitas Sumatera Utara, was invited as a guest speaker.
In his presentation, Paisal explained, "Government Goods/Services Procurement plays a crucial role in national development for improving public services and developing the national and regional economy. Therefore, it is very important for stakeholders involved in government procurement projects, as well as students and the general public, to understand this process to monitor the progress of ongoing procurement programs."
Paisal stated that 70% of the state budget is allocated to Goods and Services Procurement. 80% of corruption cases occur in the field of Goods and Services Procurement. Therefore, this is an important field that requires competent employees who have a good understanding of government procurement regulations and laws. "The current condition is that the quality and quantity of human resources in the Procurement department of each agency are not given enough attention, so only a few employees master and understand this field, and there are only a few of them. There are very few human resources (HR) who understand and are knowledgeable about this," said Paisal.
Prof. Dr. Robert Sibarani, M.Sc., as the Director of the USU Postgraduate School, in his opening remarks, congratulated the success of the Workshop on the Dissemination of Presidential Regulation No. 16 of 2018 concerning Government Goods/Services Procurement, presented by the Alumni Association of the Master's Program in Valuation and Property Management (MMPP). In his remarks, he also advised USU alumni and students, especially from the MMPP program, to always have the BINTANG character. "BINTANG itself is an acronym for Believing in God Almighty in the framework of diversity, Innovative and having integrity, Tough and Wise," said the Director of the USU Postgraduate School.
