Medan, July 7, 2026 — A Workshop on Learning Management System (LMS) Implementation was conducted as part of the Workshop on the Development and Implementation of an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Curriculum for master's and doctoral programs at the Postgraduate School of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (SPs USU). Held at the Level II Auditorium of the Postgraduate School, the workshop aimed to strengthen the use of digital technology in supporting the implementation of outcome-based curricula.
The workshop was attended by the Vice Directors for Academic Affairs, Administration and Finance, and Student Affairs, heads and secretaries of the master's and doctoral study programs within SPs USU, full-time and home-based faculty members, administrative staff, and Academic Information System (SIA) operators from both the Postgraduate School and its study programs. The event commenced with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Ir. Evawany Yunita Aritonang, M.Si., Director of the Postgraduate School, who emphasized the importance of leveraging digital technologies to support effective, measurable, and student-centered learning.
The session on Learning Management System (LMS) implementation was delivered by Dr. Ir. Tigor Hamonangan Nasution, S.T., M.T., IPM. His presentation covered the use of LMS as a digital learning platform, the integration of LMS with the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum, mechanisms for monitoring online teaching and learning activities, and strategies for optimizing LMS to support the achievement of Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) for master's and doctoral programs. The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion session moderated by Prof. Ir. Aulia Ishak, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., providing participants with an opportunity to share experiences and discuss challenges related to LMS implementation in their respective study programs.
This initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 – Quality Education, by promoting the use of digital technologies to enhance the effectiveness and quality of teaching and learning, and SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by strengthening the digital infrastructure of higher education through the implementation of a Learning Management System. For the Master's Program in Management (MM USU), the adoption of LMS also supports its vision of producing innovative, globally competitive managers with positive social impact while reinforcing its mission to deliver professional business management education that is responsive to technological advancement and committed to continuously improving learning quality and graduate competencies.
