Sustainable property is designed with environmental sustainability in mind. Sustainability emphasizes site sustainability, water efficiency, energy, atmosphere, indoor environmental quality, resources, and materials. Sustainable property emerged along with the concept of sustainable development, which states that development is carried out to meet current needs without sacrificing the needs of future generations.
Market valuation needs to estimate the most probable selling price. Appraisers must incorporate sustainable property features only insofar as these issues affect the competitive position of the property asset. It is the appraiser's role to reflect these benefits. Otherwise, the appraisal report will lead to misleading price estimates. Appraisers must be aware of various change factors when conducting their appraisals and consider all risk factors associated with the asset, including building sustainability, to evaluate risk factors.
Appraisers have been conducting appraisals for conventional properties so far. When valuing sustainable properties, they treat them the same, even though their value should be higher. This workshop will equip students with the necessary aspects of sustainable property valuation.
This one-day workshop will feature a morning session with a speaker from the USU Postgraduate School Master's Program in Valuation and Property Management, Dr. Khaira Amalia Fachrudin, S.E. Ak., MBA, CA, MAPPI (Cert), who will present on sustainable property and the theoretical development of sustainable property valuation. Another speaker from the Indonesian Society of Appraisers (MAPPI), a senior partner at a Public Appraisal Service Office (KJPP) in Jakarta and founder and chairperson of the Blue Economy Foundation, Ms. Dewi Smaragdina, S.E., M.Sc., MAPPI (Cert), will provide a presentation on the practical valuation of sustainable property, which is rarely done in Indonesia. The afternoon session will include a training session on resolving sustainable property valuation cases to determine their value.
This event will showcase the Master's Program in Property and Valuation's contribution as a pioneer in Property and Valuation Management in Indonesia. The workshop will be held on Friday, May 12, 2018, in Room 101 of the USU Postgraduate Building.
