Medan, July 7, 2026 — The Workshop on the Development and Implementation of an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Curriculum for Master's and Doctoral Programs was held at the Level II Auditorium of the Postgraduate School of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (SPs USU). The activity aimed to strengthen understanding and ensure consistent implementation of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum across all master's and doctoral study programs within SPs USU.

The workshop was attended by the Vice Directors I, II, and III, heads and secretaries of the Master's Program in Regional and Rural Planning (PWD) and the Doctoral Program in Regional Planning, heads and secretaries of the Master's and Doctoral Programs in Land Resource Planning (PSL), heads and secretaries of the Master's Program in Management and Master's Program in Property and Valuation Management (MMPP), full-time and home-based faculty members, administrative staff, and Academic Information System (SIA) operators. The event began with opening remarks from the Director of the Postgraduate School of USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Evawany Yunita Aritonang, M.Si., who emphasized the importance of strengthening outcome-based curricula as part of efforts to improve the quality of postgraduate education.

The main session featured Prof. Ir. Maya Sarah, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPM as the speaker, who presented the fundamental principles of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), the development of Graduate Profiles and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), the alignment of PLOs with curriculum structures, and OBE implementation strategies tailored to the characteristics of master's and doctoral programs. The workshop was followed by an interactive discussion session moderated by Prof. Ir. Aulia Ishak, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., allowing participants from various study programs to discuss challenges and share experiences in implementing OBE within their respective programs.

This activity supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 – Quality Education, through the strengthening of relevant and high-quality outcome-based curricula, and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration with expert speakers in postgraduate curriculum development. For the Master's Program in Management (MM USU), strengthening the OBE-based curriculum also contributes to achieving its vision of producing innovative, globally competitive managers with social impact, while reinforcing the program’s mission to provide business management education grounded in scientific studies, moral values, and integrity, as well as to produce innovative, relevant, and highly competitive graduates.
