Dialog Interaktif: Menjawab Permasalahan Penilaian Melalui SPI
To strengthen the capacity of valuers in Indonesia while also responding to various emerging challenges in the valuation profession, the Regional Executive Board of the Indonesian Society of Appraisers (DPD MAPPI) North Sumatra and Aceh, in collaboration with the Association of Public Appraisal Firms (IKJPP) and the Master's Program in Property and Valuation Management at the School of Postgraduate Studies, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held an Interactive Dialogue titled “Addressing Valuation Issues Through SPI.”
The event was officially opened with remarks from the Head of the Master's Program in Property and Valuation Management at the USU School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Elisabet Siahaan, SE, M.Ec, followed by a speech from the Chairperson of DPD MAPPI North Sumatra and Aceh, Suherwin, ST, M.Si, MAPPI (Cert).
The main speaker of the dialogue was Ir. Hamid Yusuf, M.M., MAPPI (Cert.) FRICS, which presented several key issues related to the Indonesian Valuation Standards (SPI). SPI serves as the primary foundation in valuation practice to ensure high-quality, objective, ethical, and accountable results. In this discussion, SPI was examined in greater depth as a technical standard and a guide to professional ethics. The materials presented covered the valuation process, investigation and inspection, Highest and Best Use (HBU) analysis, and valuation approaches and methods.
The event was attended by a wide range of valuation professionals, including MAPPI A, P, T, and S members, administrative staff from KJPP offices, internal bank appraisers, government appraisers, valuation practitioners, academics, and students of the Master's Program in Property and Valuation Management at USU. The general objectives of this interactive dialogue were: to provide an open space to discuss real issues faced by MAPPI members and appraisers in field practice; to address both technical and non-technical challenges in applying SPI practically and ethically; and to foster communication and collaboration among valuation professionals from diverse backgrounds and sectors.
This event also served as a valuable opportunity to strengthen networking and synergy among academics, practitioners, and professional support institutions. The active and dynamic dialogue inspired participants to continue enhancing their professionalism and integrity in their duties.
The Master's Program in Property and Valuation Management at USU extends its gratitude to all parties who supported the event—SPs USU, DPD MAPPI North Sumatra and Aceh, Chairman of KPSPI Mr. Hamid Yusuf, IKJPP, and all participants. Through this interactive dialogue, it is hoped that appraisers will be better prepared to face professional challenges and contribute to improving the quality of valuation practice in Indonesia.
