Binjai, September 8, 2026 — The Master’s Program in Property and Valuation Management (MMPP), Postgraduate School of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), in collaboration with RSUD Dr. R.M. Djoelham, Binjai City, has successfully completed an Academic Study on the Parking Management System at RSUD Dr. R.M. Djoelham.
This academic study is part of an effort to promote the management of hospital facilities and parking areas that are more organized, effective, safe, convenient, and sustainable. Through this study, various aspects of the parking system were analyzed to formulate recommendations that can support improvements in the management and overall quality of the hospital environment.
The study provides a number of strategic recommendations that are expected to serve as a basis for RSUD Dr. R.M. Djoelham in organizing and developing a more integrated parking management system. The proposed improvements consider not only parking capacity requirements, but also vehicle circulation, safety, accessibility, space utilization, and management effectiveness.
As a healthcare facility, an effective parking system plays an important role in supporting the smooth operation of hospital activities. A well-organized parking system can provide greater convenience for patients, patients’ families, healthcare professionals, and visitors, while also contributing to a safer and more comfortable hospital environment.
The study is also aligned with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through support for improving the quality of healthcare facilities and their surrounding environment; SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through the development of supporting hospital infrastructure; SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) through improved spatial planning and integrated transportation systems; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through strengthened collaboration between higher education institutions and public service institutions.
The collaboration between the MMPP Study Program of the Postgraduate School of USU and RSUD Dr. R.M. Djoelham represents an important form of Tridarma Perguruan Tinggi (the Three Pillars of Higher Education), particularly in providing academic contributions to addressing real-world challenges faced by communities and public service institutions.
Through the findings and recommendations of this study, RSUD Dr. R.M. Djoelham is expected to have a sound academic foundation for determining policies and strategies for the future development of its parking system. This will enable parking areas to be managed in a more professional, efficient, safe, and sustainable manner.
This study further strengthens the role of the Master’s Program in Property and Valuation Management, Postgraduate School of Universitas Sumatera Utara, in providing knowledge-based solutions and academic studies in the fields of property management, asset management, and spatial utilization to support the improvement of public service quality.
