The MMPP curriculum covers theories on property and appraisal, and students who work while studying have also conducted appraisal practices

The graduate profile of the Master of Valuation and Property Management (MMPP) program at the USU Postgraduate School is that of a property expert, property appraiser, business appraiser, and property researcher. The MMPP curriculum covers theories on property and appraisal, and students who work while studying have also conducted appraisal practices. Many MMPP alumni have opened Public Appraisal Service Offices. However, new students from the fourth to sixth batches have not yet conducted appraisals, and many have just graduated with their bachelor's degrees.

Therefore, a workshop on appraising shophouses and residences as simple property objects is necessary. This workshop will cover the appraisal process, from accepting the assignment to completing the appraisal report, followed by a field inspection. Students will be taught to identify building materials on the appraised objects, recognize physical, functional, and economic depreciation on buildings directly, learn to find comparable data, make adjustments, and create reports. This workshop will be conducted by speakers from the Indonesian Society of Appraisers (MAPPI) Sumbagut, with participants including lecturers and students.

The purpose and objective of this workshop is to provide assessment experience to students as a provision and their suitability as professionals in the field of assessment.

The main workshop materials consist of:

  1. Scope of Assignment Phase: Defining the scope and objectives of the assessment.
  2. Implementation Phase: This includes inspection techniques, the application of valuation approaches, and the preparation of valuation worksheets.
  3. Valuation Reporting Phase: Covering both Short Form Reports and Long Form Reports (complete reports).

Supporting Materials:

  1. Knowledge of legal aspects of land ownership or other parts of the property being assessed.
  2. Understanding of other legal regulations and provisions related to TRTB Pemko Medan. (TRTB likely refers to local regulations specific to Medan)
  3. Market overview of residential and commercial properties in North Sumatra.
