Journal of Environmental and Development Studies (JEDS) of USU Postgraduate School Achieves SINTA 3 Accreditation The Journal of Environmental and Development Studies (JEDS), published by the Postgraduate School of Universitas Sumatera Utara, has officially received SINTA 3 accreditation based on the Decree of the Director General of Research and Development of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Number 156/C/C3/KPT/2026 dated April 7, 2026, regarding the New Accreditation Rankings for Scientific Journals Rank 3 to 6, Period II of 2025. 09 April 2026

Strengthening Ecosystem Resilience through Global Research Collaboration at the 4th ICNRSD 2026 The Postgraduate School of Universitas Sumatera Utara successfully hosted The 4th International Conference on Natural Resources and Sustainable Development (ICNRSD) 2026 at Grandhika Hotel Medan, bringing together participants from 15 countries to discuss sustainable management of natural resources and ecosystem resilience. The conference featured international keynote speakers, panel discussions, and 12 parallel research sessions addressing environmental degradation, climate change, and socio-economic sustainability. The event reinforced the importance of global collaboration and interdisciplinary research in advancing innovative, evidence-based solutions for sustainable development. 06 February 2026

PSL USU Doctoral Promotion Examination Discusses Social Forestry Management Model in North Sumatra Masrizal Saraan was declared to have passed the Doctoral Promotion Examination of the Natural Resources and Environmental Management Study Program, Postgraduate School of Universitas Sumatera Utara, through the doctoral program by research track. The dissertation entitled “Model of Social Forestry Management Based on Social Capital and Social-Ecological Systems in North Sumatra” contributes to the development of research-based and sustainable social forestry management 05 January 2026

Collaboration of PEPSILI, PSL USU, HITI, and BKM Syuhada Distributes Donations for Flood Victims The distribution of donations to flood-affected communities was carried out through the collaboration of PEPSILI, the S2 & S3 PSL of the Postgraduate School of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), the Central Board of the Indonesian Soil Science Association (HITI), and BKM Syuhada Jalan Balam Medan. Part of the assistance originated from the USU Donor Post and was distributed to Dusun Pakis, Harapan Makmur Village, Sei Lepan District, as well as Lingkungan Sempurna, Tangkahan Durian Subdistrict, Brandan Barat District, as a form of care and social solidarity. 20 December 2025

PhD Graduate of the Environmental and Natural Resources Management Program, Postgraduate School of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Completes Doctoral Studies through the Research Path The Doctoral Program in Environmental and Natural Resources Management, Postgraduate School of Universitas Sumatera Utara, held an Open Doctoral Promotion Examination for Sarah Patumona Manalu through the research-based doctoral education pathway (by research). The examination presented dissertation findings focusing on a sustainable management model for the peatland ecosystem of the Toba Highlands using ecological and social approaches. 19 December 2025
